Synopsis of Screenplay

MAKE WAY FOR TOBIN

by Stanley Morgan

Fish and Chips, Football, The Royal Family and Bad Weather...nothing could be more British, except for...'Make Way For Tobin'! Based on Stanley Morgan's nineteen phenomenal books (which have sold over 10 MILLION copies Worldwide - and counting - exceptional since the books received no media review and relatively little promotion), 'Make Way For Tobin' is a homage to Britain's golden comedy era, the 1960's.

Remembering such greats as Carry On, On the Buses, Bless This House and St. Trinan's, Russ Tobin can easily become the nations new favourite comedy icon that will be watched again and again.

Though much of Russ Tobin's amorous literary gallivanting took place on foreign soil (Majorca, Australia, Africa, Tahiti, USA), in 'Make Way For Tobin' his lust for life and manic - and perpetually frustrated determination to succeed in the swinging 60's is observed in domestic situ.

Ever on the look-out for that rung that will help him up the ladder to fame and fortune, he believes his big break has finally arrived, when through the wiles of Tobin-smitten Mimsie Hardwater at his local Job Centre, he gets the job of maintenance man at the fabulous apartment block Wisteria Court, residence of the very rich and famous. Here at last, within his reach, is the lifestyle for which he yearns, the job actually permitting him to hobnob with the residents.

Alas, Russ quickly discovers the chasm that inevitably separates our fantastic dreams from harsh reality. Wisteria Court, it transpires, is a seething seedbed of eccentric silliness, an asylum of anarchic asininity. One day the world may well MAKE WAY FOR TOBIN...but it sure as heck won't be today!
