On Screen
Read more about Pillay-Evans Productions on screen careers including Sousila Pillay’s TV Presenting, with appearances on BBC and ITV, and Stephen J. Evans acting.
On Screen
Despite having their hands full producing, casting, writing and counselling, Sousila and Stephen also have an extensive 'on-screen’ career.
SJ Evans
Following a number of cameos in short films and a handful of television appearances, Stephen decided to enter the acting word. His first role was the challenging role of Self in the film of the same name. His performance was critically acclaimed in several festivals and helped land him a speaking role in BBC's 'Casualty'.
Before that role Stephen wanted to enhance his on-screen skills and has since featured in Commercials for Lloyds TSB, several TV episodes including the Christmas day special of Doctor Who for the BBC and even had a scene opposite Wesley Snipes in the $14M feature 'The Contractor'.
Sousila Pillay
Sousila is considered by many (including the BBC) to be one of the most exciting, up and coming talents on the UK television scene with her drive and ambition allowing Sousila to adapt to any role put in-front of her.
Sousila first became interested in film and television when she was employed as Program Director for the first ever North Wales Film Festival held in the Royal Pavilion, Llangollen. From there she went on to work for an Independent Television Station - Antena (who are commissioned by S4C to broadcast programmes) where her duties included working as a researcher for broadcast and weekly live shows, learning how to edit items for broadcast and how live shows are produced and directed.
Radio
In 2002 Sousila expanded her media talents and entered the World of radio. She began her radio career behind the scenes at stations Coast 96.3 and Champion 103 FM Radio as Programme Cover, where she edited and re-recording links, provided information for presenters and wrote, edited and provided vocals for adverts for flash and action. Despite enjoying the technical side, Sousila’s talents were quickly recognised and soon became on air talent as an Outside Broadcaster for (a number of the GWR Radio Stations) Black Thunder radio links, presenting live links, hosting challenges for the general public and interviewing a wide range of people (including Prince William).
TV/Film
After two years in radio Sousila decided to move into film, making her first connection with NikJaw Productions as 1st Assistant Director for the short HD film “Fate”. However her main ambition was to be in front of the camera. To achieve this Sousila attended extensive talks with the Head of Talent and Head of News and Current Affairs at the BBC where she was enlisted on their diversity database. Soon after Sousila made her Television debut on ITV Wales, combining her two main skills: counselling and presenting, when she appeared as a Behaviour and Lifestyle Expert for television programmes “Wales On The Move” and “The Feel Good Factor”.
To continue her diversity in the media section Sousila was asked to attend a 5-day BBC Film Making Workshop in March 2005 where she presented, directed, composed, wrote and even edited a short film that was later used on BBC 2W.
In April 2005 Sousila’s dream came true as she was cast as Lead Presenter for the BBC TV programme 'Take Over TV’. The job not only involved introducing the programme but also visual and audio links to various programme segments and production of a five-minute report (this involved presenting, directing, writing and editing).
Actress
Once Pillay-Evans re-located to Cardiff in mid 2006, Sousila in her spare time is a Supporting Artist starring in The Contractor - Feature Film. Torchwood - TV Series. Caerdydd - S4C Series. Doctor Who - TV Series. Corporate Videos and Casualty - TV Series and Short film 'Too Late’ to name a few.
Modeling
Alongside her many accomplishments and activities in her TV, Film and Radio career, Sousila is also a part-time Model appearing in various catwalk fashion shows, wedding fairs, fashion forums, charity events, newspaper articles and photo shoots - on location and studio work.
